I slept at the Sovietsky in 2007. It was my first time in Russia and in Moscow of course. I cannot forget this historical "monument", because of its beauty, its story, its smell of story, its hospitality, its staff kindness and availability, its typical russian furnishings. Next time when I will be in Moscow, It's sure I choose the Sovietsky!

I was priviledged to dine with friends in the beautiful VIP reataurant on Wednesday evening of 1st October 2008. Fantastic food, excellent service, and talented pianist who made my evening by playing not only classical music but the atmospheric Elton John song 'Belfast' - Thank you so much, I will never forget. Regards Steve Stokes, Birmingham, England.

Having stayed in many hotels worldwide, this is among my top favourites! Staff were very efficient and friendly, service was excellent and the a total lack of pretentiousness! The public areas are exceptional with marble walls, floors and ceilings, a grand staircase, high ceilings, beautiful chandeliers and great pieces of art. While rooms may not match modern chain hotels, they are extremely clean, plus you don't come to Moscow to spend your time in a hotel room! The bar staff were very efficient and friendly especially Umar who made each visit to the bar a pleasant experience! We also ate in the YAR Restaurant which we thought was exceptional value for money...this is one of the most atmospheric restaurants you can expect to find with delicious food, an exceptional and colourful cabaret show followed by a live jazz band. My sister has already stayed here 3 times and I would definitely recommend Sovietsky to those who are bored with inernational hotel chains and are looking for authentic Russian hospitality. Plus the breakfast was great followed by a musician playing the Harp!
