I echo what other reviewers say. It's an amazing building, the staff are good and it's a reasonable price. It's about 1k from the nearest Metro (Dinamo) but in a fairly uninspiring part of town, surrounded by freeways and flyovers. Perfectly safe as far as I could make out though. The restaurant attached, YAR, is definitely worth spending one night in. The food was great and the service excellent. The accompanying show of dancing gets a bit tiresome after a while and the wine list starts at around ˆ50 for a bottle which would cost less than 1/2 that in a London restaurant. Not untypical of Moscow. Breakfast is included and very much worth having. Champagne available if you're up for that in the morning. Check out the big potraits of Soviet leaders on Floor 3.

We stayed there for 5 nights, and enjoyed it thoroughly for the reasons other subscribers have given. It was particularly pleasant to have classical music over breakfast. Even though the neighbourhood was nothing flash, I enjoyed getting something of an idea of life outside the centre. For those staying there- 1. Dynamo station is about 10 minutes walk straight ahead as you leave the hotel (a couple of small underpasses avoid the large road, then a walk along the edge of a park). The metro service is frequent and fast. 2. About 75m to your right as you leave the hotel is a small convenience store. 3. Across the road from that store is a bank (green signage) which has an ATM. The hotel also has an ATM. 4. We used their airport service, which was a mistake. The car was an battered taxi, which had cracks in all the windows, insufficient seat belts etc. At 60 euros, it was well above the cost of an ordinary taxi (trip took about 1.25 hours mid afternoon on a weekday). If you do want to be met at the airport (and we certainly appreciated it after a 26 hr flight), I suggest going through a tour organiser and getting an English-speaking driver who can give you an overview of the city on the way. 5. If organising a taxi through front desk when you leave, ask the girl to provide an indicative price and then ask her to negotiate that price when she books the cab. We paid 300 R for the 20 minutes ride to the train station for the trip to St.Pete's.
